Coffee Filter Wreath

I was looking through my crafting stuff trying to find something that would entertain my child when I came across some old coffee filters that I have had for a billion years.  I gave it to my son and of course he immediately crumpled it up, and that gave me an idea.  I had a spare wreath I had gotten from the dollar store so I decided to give it a try.
I used a wreath, coffee filters, glue gun, and glue sticks.
I forgot to wrap the wreath with ribbon, or something. I would definitely recommend doing that.

So I took the coffee filter and folded it in half.  I put some glue on 1/4 of it and folded it in fourths, then glued it on.

I glued them on in sections so I could just fill in what was left.  Doing it that way worked well for me.

I just started adding coffee filters where in the empty spaces.

FINISHED!

It turned out so much fuller than I expected!

The Laundry Room

Ya.  Here it is.  It looks like it's been through a lot.  Well it has,  a lot of neglect that is.  I have been so inspired by real people who pretty up their laundry rooms.  Not to mention the pretty pics in magazines.  But mine can only get so pretty with a mismatching washer and dryer.  I will try to "pretty up"  this problem little by little.

Here is what I have so far.  I LOVE all of the pics where people have the laundry soap in pretty jars.  I had to do it.  And to make it better I picked up this little number at a local thrift store for $1.  Perfect!  Now I just need a metal scoop to go with it.  Where can I find one of those?  Anyone know?

So I got the little tray at the thrift store for a dollar too.  It had some weird flowers all over it.  I imagined it white in my head and it looked good...but this doesn't look good so I will repaint it soon.  Plus it blends in with our dryer, which by the way is new (well new to us) ours broke last week.  We picked this up for a cool $60.  And it works a billion times better than the one that broke.  Not too shabby!   I will keep on keeping on with the laundry room and keep you posted.

Why do I let things get this way?

This is the way the top of my fridge has looked for some time now.  I can't remember the last time I used a phone book.  So can anyone tell my why I felt the need to keep FOUR of them up there?  Not to mention the empty tissue box.  Apparently it was of vital importance that we keep it around.  It was looking pretty cluttered, and needlessly so.

So I cleaned it all up and it now looks like this.

Much better!  And yes, I do realize that if I cleaned off the front of my fridge it would look a  lot cleaner too.  But everyone needs some fun pics and magnets on their fridge right?  Well I do anyway!

Pretty laundry rooms

I have had my mind on my laundry room lately.  Probably because I'm in and out of it so many times a day I can't ignore it any longer.  It is a very nice space and I'm sure i can do a lot with it.  So, here are some laundry rooms that are giving me inspiration to pretty mine up a bit.

I especially like this one because it's simple and I feel like I could make my room look like that.

I love the calm color of this room.  Everything has a place.  Very simple.

I love the wall decor.  I know I have passed up a few of those at thrift stores because I didn't know where i would put it.  Next time I see one I'm snatching it up!

Can I have fresh flowers in my laundry room?

How would I love to have this washer and dryer set?  Maybe someday I could justify an expense like that.  I do love the containers for the laundry soap.  I think I would like to do that with mine.  It looks a lot more attractive that the big bucket I have sitting on my dryer with lint all around it....

Well.  I guess I'd better get cracking on making my Laundry room a little more like these.  Pics to come on my little project.

cake plate

I have seen a few people making fun new dishes by putting a candle stick holder on the bottom of plates, jars, and bowls.  I love this post on Drab to Fab.  I would love to make some jars like this too, but on my thrift store hunting I didn't find any jars...so I settled for this:

I found this plate at Savers.  I love the ruffley edges of it.   I also found this candle stick to go with it.  I love how chunky it is.

So I put some glue on the candle stick.  I use E-6000.

Put something heavy on top and let it dry overnight.
Walaa, finished!  Very simple and fun!

Have a great day!
