The Room Mom Files

Hi! Just popping in to share a quick post about the Candy Land game I made for my son's classroom Christmas party. There are a lot of fun pictures I found as inspiration. I wish I could have made it more elaborate, but it the kids had fun even with the simplicity of it all.

Here are some of the pictures that helped me:

I would do it differently if I made another on, but this worked fine, and the kids had fun!

Home Addition Week #2

So If you remember from the last home addition post, we needed to have a septic tank removed from our yard.

Honestly, I took more pictures than I should have, but I loved watching them. Our yard is so small and I am surprised they didn't bring our house down with the machines they were using!

So the pictures are terrible, but you get the idea.

Now that thats out of the way, they were able to start the footings.

Its exciting to see it take shape!

Felt Crafts

During a trip to a local consignment shop, I found a bag full of Disney Princess figurines. My daughter loves princesses right now so it was a great find. I wanted her to have a fun little castle or dollhouse to go with it, but I didn't want to spend any money. I searched around for a few ideas and here is what I came up with.
It is all made out of felt. I just used different pictures as inspiration. I tried to make something for each princess on here. Here is Sleeping Beauties Castle.

Here is Rapunzel's tower and the floating lights

 Snow White's cottage

The Beast Castle and the fountain from the beginning of the  movie

This is for Ariel. It was the best I could come up with... And here are all of the Princesses doing their thing:

The best part of this, is that it is portable. I just roll it up and put it in our Church Bag, or if we are headed to some event that will be a little boring for kids, I just stick it in my bag and take it along. It has been used quite a bit and I am really happy with how it turned out!

Pretzel

While I was perusing Pinterest a while ago, as I so often do, I found a really good looking recipe for homemade Pretzels. http://www.justataste.com/homemade-soft-pretzel-twists-recipe/ Here is a link to the recipe if you are interested in trying it for yourself.

We have recently purchased a Kitchenaid Mixer, thank you Costco. I have never used one before and my Husband and I have always wanted one. So when we found them on sale at Costco one day we just went for it! Now we are trying out all sorts of new recipes.
This was also my first experience using yeast. I have always been pretty intimidated with it, and I was surprised to find that, in this recipe at least, it really wasn't a big deal, and I didn't have any problems with it.

Here is how they turned out! They were so delicious. They turned out just how I hoped they would! My Husband and I have both made these a few times and they always turn out so good.

Do yourself a favor and try these out sometime!

Home Addition Week #1

Hello there! We have exciting things happening at our house, and I wanted to put them up on the blog. We have been wanting to add a little more space to our home for a few years now, and after a lot of planning and researching it is finally happening!
Here they are demolishing our back patio. It was pretty fun to watch.

The exterior wall will become an interior wall

We did run into a little snag. They found an old sceptic tank that we didn't know we had. We will have to have them come back to remove it.

We will be residing the whole house once the addition is finished. We are really excited for this. Our old wood siding is falling off our house.

We have also discovered that we do not have insulation in our walls, so we will be getting that done as well!

Stay tuned for more updates!
