The color yellow

Today I have on my mind the color yellow.  I have seen so many projects done in yellow and now I just need to get my hands on something to paint yellow.  I got a free cedar chest from one of my neighbors and I painted it baby blue.  We are trying to decide on colors for our room redo.  I like the blue a lot but now I think I want to make it look something like these awesome night stands. Thrift store finds

I love this clock I found a Savers the other day for $5.99.  I was thinking about painting it a different color but my husband really liked the red.  I bought a red cubby shelf thing a DI a long time ago and also had plans to paint it but I could never find a good place for it.  I was almost going to put it in my get rid of pile. Once the red clock went up I thought it would look perfect on the wall across from it.  And it does!  Hooray for things coming together!

The Artichoke in the middle was a gift from a friend.  I LOVE artichokes.   For decorating and eating.  the two white vases are from Ikea.  I though about putting some more stuff on it but I really like the simple look it's sporting right now.

 

Its  a bad picture but you can kind of see how the two look in our living room.  I like!

 

On the same day I got the clock, I also got this little black shelf for $1.00.  We have lived in our home a few years now and are finally able to decorate a little bit.  We could use a few more shelves. This one works perfectly on this wall because my clever husband hung it up so it would cover up some holes from a little coat rack that fell down. 

Family Room Redo

I wanted to post some pics of our family room re-do.   I liked the room when we moved here and then slowly and slowly I started to Hate it.  Loathe it.  Since I now stay at home with my baby I have found that a lot of my attention goes to how I would improve the house if I could.   Don't get me wrong,  I LOVE this house, but improvements can always be made right?

New Scarf

I was going through some blogs and I found THIS SCARF TUTORIAL.  I thought it was so cute and wanted to give it a try.  It took me way longer than it should have because I have a little boy who knows when I'm not paying attention to him and does whatever he can to change that.  Anyway,  I happened to have some purple knit fabric laying around and went to work.  Very fun and easy project!!

I made a trip to Savers this morning.  I found some pretty interesting items.   Here is the stuff I got, I will post later on what I did with them.

Here is a before and after of some side tables my friend gave me.  I didn't realize until after I painted them that they needed a good sanding.  Luckily it's just my Husband and I who will ever really see them.  Maybe I'll fix them up in the summer.  For now I am just really happy with them.  We have been using some really small mosaic tables for the past 6 years and these work MUCH better!
